Tribute to Azure Window

Hi Everyone,

I have been wondering for a while what would be “first post material” for my Blog, I have so many ideas, I used to have a  blog 5-6 years ago about makeup , makeup tutorials and reviews and the “then and now” theme seemed to be the best option but, then I heard about what happened to the Azure Window, I wanted to dedicate the first post to this amazing Island were I had one of the happiest days of my life.  I went there in 2010 with my husband and we absolutely loved Malta, we even looked at every Real Estate window we could find because it seemed a good idea to leave our lives in England and enjoy life there forever and ever with the amazing people, food, sun, views.. you name it is paradise.

My husband proposed to me there on a boat called the Fernandez on a beautiful day trip, with sunset views to the city and coast line,so Malta has such a special place in our hearts.

Here is a picture of us looking rather young.

The thing is, that change will always happen, it can be a city evolving into something else (as a modern Malta as some nice Maltese man told us how different it is) or nature taking its course, but our memories there will stay with us forever and will always bring a smile to my face.

Regardless of that, I can’t wait to go back with my daughter because there is still so much to see and do, also show her where daddy proposed and tell her how much fun we had there and show her the picture of that beautiful land mark that is no longer there.

Thanks for reading my little Tribute to this amazing place.

Maru Gomez.

Spring Fused Glass Accesories

Hi everyone,

Like most people spring is my favourite time of the year, I get to take care of my little garden and wait patiently to see the first buds to appear and its even more exiting to do it with my daughter, we have planted tomatoes, strawberries, flowers and tulips.  She loves to play with dirt and she is the one that wants to water the plants everyday.

I see so much beauty around, we live in the Countryside in Berkshire and little by little you see everything wake up, I appreciate every single garden that you can tell love and care has been put into it.

As we try to spend as much time outdoors as we can I got so much inspiration to make a few pieces of jewellery inspired by colours and the everyday curious things you don’t get to see the rest of the year.

Hot air Balloons are around from the begging of spring and its always nice to see them around specially my little one, she loves them!

Sky Blue Earrings with a touch of golden sunset, because after a British winter, being able to see the cloudless sky for the first time and the golden pinkish Sunset is one of the best feelings ever.

Something else I love from the British Spring and Summer is the festivity, party ready, happy feeling I get from Buntings.

Todays fun Craft

Hi everyone!

Today we made this beautiful Ballerina, her name is Aimee just like my daughters best friend.

IMG_3104

I have seen so many times this type of craft in Instagram, when I saw our first tulips lose their Petals it occurred to me to recreate it with my daughter.

All you need is:

  • Paper
  • Petals
  • Markers
  • Glue

This is the way we made ours:

  • Go for a walk in your back or front garden or park
  • Find a tulip that lost its Petals or any other Flower.
  • Go home and draw a pretty princess and glue the Petals.

We are going to press ours, there are many tutorials online, we are going to use the book method because we used glue to keep the petals in place.

I hope you liked this idea, I know is extremely simple but my daughter liked it, we hope you like it too.

Natural Organic Lip Balms

Hi everyone!!

For todays fun activity with my daughter we made these Organic Natural Ingredient Lip Balms, these are very easy to make the entire family will enjoy them.

Natural Organic LipBalms

What you need:

  • DIY Empty Lipbalm Tube Containers or any Empty one you have around.
  • Organic Grade Raw 100% Pure Cocoa Butter
  • 100% Organic Bees wax (Cosmetic Grade, I used the triple filtered one)
  • Organic extra virgin Coconut Oil
  • Mica Powder in Rose Red (cosmetic grade)
  • Cinammon Powder

Instructions:

1. Shred equal parts of the Bees wax, Cocoa Butter  and scoop the same amount for the coconut oil (we used 3 table spoons to make a lot, you can use less or more!)

2. Put all the Ingredients in Bain Marie until everything is nice and melted, you can melt it in the microwave as well.

3.Pour the Mixture in the Tubes if you want some without added colour.  You can use a Pipette while the mixture is still runny or wait till it cooled down and push the paste in the tubes.

4. If you want a pop of colour,  add the Mica Powder, or Beetroot Powder, Cinnamon, even cocoa powder, mix and match till your heart is content, the more you add, the more pigmented they will be. We used a little spoon of each.

I know this picture is messy by my helper is only 2.9 months old (one has Cinnamon and Mica Powder and the other just Mica)

4. Let them set in the fridge or the counter as long as its cool. We waited a day to try ours.

On Becoming a Mom

Hi everyone,

This Post is about my Daughter and becoming a mom, her name is Madelaine, and you will hear me brag about her a lot!!! since she was in the womb we knew she was going to be hyper and active, she was on the back to back position, I remember trying so hard to change that with my huge belly bouncing up and down on my lilac gym ball, but she wasn’t interested in changing position.

She loved music in there, I also used to shine my I phones lantern on my belly and you could see hands, feet, elbows, knees through my skin, trying to touch and reach, if enough people ask I will include a scary video of her moving in there that looks like it was taken from a scary film haha.

I mean dancing and singing is what the girl likes, so we signed her up or ballet lessons, and every time we go to the movies we let her run to the front of the screen so she can dance and burn all that energy accumulated from sitting the whole movie,  We try to support all her little interests like her love for animals, she can tell the difference between the types of Lamas and she knows what a Red eye tree frog is.. I mean OMG!!! she makes me feel like a dummy sometimes… the good thing about being a mom is that you learn so much everyday, it fun doing all the little experiments and see their little faces illuminating  when they try something new.

Being a mom is the best experience of my life, I am very lucky I could stay home with her, and do loads of activities with her from feeding ducks to swimming, ice skating, pottery painting, science club, ballet lessons outdoor activities and so on, if there is anything new to try we want to go!!!!!

I normally follow her lead, ask her what she feels like doing and we organize something around her suggestion we also always talk to her even when she was a baby and I think that helped with her vocabulary a lot, she can have long conversations and say complicated words without a problem.

I will leave you a link for a video of my little dancer when she turned 2, we went to the beach  in Bournemouth and she danced for like an hour in front of the street band.

Thanks for taking some time to read my blog and I hope you enjoy the video.

Bugs and Aliens

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share this simple and fun rainy day activity.

You only need

  • Over sized pompoms
  • pipe cleaners
  • buttons
  • googly eyes
  • Glue
  • little bell

I find that trying to glue stuff to the pompoms is annoying for kids mostly because they want to play with their new toy straight away!

Also BEWARE!, cats love these toys, we made 3 and only 1 survived because our dear mister Gandalf the Ragdoll cat (post to come soon) loved loved loved them!

It is a very simple craft, you just need to wrap the pipe cleaner to create the wings,  legs or whatever you like, pompoms holds it nicely in place. For the eyes and green tail, we used glue.

My daughter very soon gave up and realised  her little aliens and bugs were the cats property but she was happy to share.

I hope you enjoy making this little pompom whatever they are 🙂 its hard for little kids to twist the wings, I asked my daughter along the way what she wanted to do with it and also let her help with everything she wanted.

Thanks for stopping by.

Maru Gomez
